Welcome to Echoism Productions

Empowering Young Theatre Makers

Echoism Productions is a London based theatre company, dedicated to creating engaging and thought-provoking performances. Our passion for storytelling through the art of theatre drives us to deliver compelling experiences to our audiences. Our goal is simple - provide a space for emerging creatives to breathe life into the stories they want to create. If you have a voice, we want to hear it.

We strive to push boundaries, provoke thoughts, and evoke emotions through our innovative and impactful productions. You will have access to rehearsal spaces, assistance with finding theatres and actors, and the chance to collaborate with our team when directing. Your work will be promoted on our social media, and producing and paperwork will be managed by us. Essentially, you get to create, and we handle everything else.

Reece Marshall is playwright, theatre maker and the Associate Artist at Echoism. Reece is from London, and is a second year student on the Writing for Performance course at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama. His work, both internal and external to Echoism, aims to explore the human condition in a universal, indiscriminate way. Reece uses his previous experiences as an actor to help inform his writing and directing. A ruminative and creative individual, Reece's insight is invaluable when creating and developing projects.

What is 'Echoism'?
Belle-Ann Daly-Morgan theatre director

Echoism is a concept that derives from Greek mythology. In Ovid's Metamorphoses, Narcissus rejects the Oread, Echo. She was cursed to echo the sounds of other people, resulting in Narcissus' infamous punishment; falling in love with his reflection in a pool of water. Echoism is, simply put, the opposite of narcissism. Echoists chronically focus on others, to the point where they will eradicate everything about themselves to appease others.

This sentiment, of purposefully suppressing your voice, is something that many young, under-represented creatives can relate to. Putting your work out there - with little to no experience - is a daunting prospect, and it can feel impossible to stand out in the crowd. That's why we're here, to provide a platform and do our bit in preventing the ongoing inaccessibility that is rife within London's theatre scene.
